The NFT world are regularly shouting ‘Community’ and ‘What’s the utility?’ into the echo chambers of Twitter… Well we thought we’d give it a go in January!
12 Lioness NFT’s gifted
The Lion Club started January by rounding up the 12 days of festive giveaways by gifting 12 Lioness NFT’s to 12 lucky winners. The daily competitions saw a total of 213 entrants within the community and 42 Lions bought from the Opensea marketplace. Who said January was boring?
Lions go to Atlanta Falcons v Tampa Bay Buccs
After the first 6 fun-filled days of the new year, the spotlight was then put onto Lion holders Bacon and Ced. Our Lions from Canada took an 8-hour drive to Philadelphia and flew to Atlanta to watch Brady against the Falcons.
The lads even won a signed Patterson jersey, and vlogged the entire trip for us to enjoy vicariously. You can watch their experience on our YouTube channel HERE.
$1000 prize money for Lions in NFL Pick’ems contest
The 18-week fantasy NFL pick’ems competition came to an end in NFL week 18. The competition hosted by our community member Grand Prize Winner saw weekly winners take home $30 and a grand prize for first and second overall winners of $350. Lifeballer and DrOfStuff split 1st and 2nd prize with KG takin $100 for 3rd. But more important than the $1000 given away, they take home the pride. More leagues coming sooooon!
Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur in 4–2 thriller
Lions were given another opportunity for real life tickets, again on Jan 19th. This time in the hospitality suite at the Manchester City’s Etihad stadium to watch Premier League Champions Man City take on Tottenham Hotspur. New Lion holder TommyP proving that everyone has a chance at the Lion club, won the two tickets and sent us some amazing videos of his experience.
NBA and Formula 1 tickets announced
Lion Club holders finished the month with not one, but two announcements. February 28th two lions will attend Chicago Bulls vs Toronto Raptors and April 2nd two lions will attend the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. These will be weighted draws, giving even more utility to long term holders and holders of multiple lions. Entry details to be announced last this week! “Let’s go home, ladies and gentlemen”
Like we said at the start of our January round up, in terms of NFT’s, community and utility… We’re just getting started!
One community member said “I’ve had more utility from the SportsIcon Lion club in January 2023, than most NFT projects on the market.” Ok we made that bit up, but we going hard this year.
